On September 29, 2023, the Mid-Atlantic Path Forward in partnership with the Mental Health Association of Maryland, hosted the second webinar in their series focusing on the Collaborative Care Model (CoCM). This series aims to highlight shared experiences and real-life stories of implementing and sustaining CoCM programs.

Expert Insights on Collaborative Care Implementation

The webinar featured two distinguished speakers who provided valuable insights into the rollout and implementation of CoCM:

Dr. William Beecroft, Behavioral Health Medical Director for BlueCross BlueShield of Michigan, shared his expertise on how BlueCross BlueShield facilitated the statewide rollout of CoCM in both primary care and specialty practices. His presentation highlighted the strategic approach and best practices that led to successful integration across various healthcare settings.

Claire Gregory, MPH, from the Maryland Department of Health’s Office of Innovation, Research, and Development, provided crucial information and guidance regarding the new Maryland law that reimburses for CoCM under Medicaid. Her discussion focused on the practical aspects of implementing this law and the positive impact it has on expanding access to collaborative care in Maryland.

A Platform for Shared Learning and Growth

The webinar series serves as a platform for healthcare professionals, policymakers, and stakeholders to share their experiences and learn from each other’s successes and challenges in adopting the Collaborative Care Model. By focusing on real-world applications and outcomes, the series aims to inspire and guide more organizations to implement CoCM, ultimately improving mental health care delivery and patient outcomes.
